This is my reaction every time I see the lead actor in the latest superhero movie as soon as they walk onto the screen…
How in the fuck do they get that jacked?
For example, I can remember seeing Captain America: The First Avenger for the first time and thinking to myself…
Holy shit! He’s actually as big as the frickin’ cartoon would be.
Now I know I’m not the only one who has these kinds of reactions to celebrities transforming into superheroes.
- Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
- Chris Hemsworth as Thor
- Henry Cavill as Superman
The workouts and diets for the men and women who play these roles float around the internet every once in awhile, but one guy actually got the bright idea to make a living off of it…
…introducing Mike Romaine of Superhero Jacked.
Years ago, Mike began documenting and sharing all the workouts and diet strategies for these celebrities turned superheros and now he has an entire workout database teaching the average guy and girl how to make their own fitness transformation.
I figured Mike’s knowledge of celebrities and their ability to drastically change their bodies quickly would be something the average college student would be worth sharing and so I asked him for an interview.
Meet Your Superhero Guide… Mike Romaine

Let’s get into the interview…
Start of Interview
What is Superhero Jacked and who are you?
Superhero Jacked is a place for awesome people, nerds and everyone in between, to come and learn how to unleash their inner superhero.
My bio definitely tells a lot about Superhero Jacked and myself.
I’m a nerd at heart, and I wanted to find a way to train people to transform without having to do what I felt was forced scammy marketing and training tactics that I was finding within my typical personal training field.
I tell my audience that I came over from “The Dark Side” of the fitness industry. No more BS, no more scams…just straight up workouts, nutrition, community, and all things nerdy awesomeness.
Now, along with being a full time student at Stony Brook University (English Literature/Teaching Major), I work full time on Superhero Jacked to help change people’s lives for the better; and we get to have fun doing it.
From what I’ve read on your site’s about page (Superhero Jacked), you’ve gone through a few “phases” with fitness before arriving where you are now. What were the biggest obstacles you had to overcome to get in the shape your are now? (And how did you solve them)
The biggest takeaway from my four stages in my fitness journey is definitely that sustainability is the most important thing .
Without sustainability you’ll find yourself repeating the process you just worked your butt off for, even if you eventually hit your goals.
I started by just simply wanting a six pack, and accomplished that. Then I wanted to gain muscle and mass, and accomplished that.
Then, because I didn’t have a sustainable process, I fell apart in regards to nutrition, and just focused mainly on lifting as much weight as possible, and accomplished that.
I was at my strongest point, but ended up gaining a ton of unwanted fat as well. From there I lost over 50 lbs, got to my most shredded physique ever, and developed The Superhero Academy techniques, basing them on the strong points of all four stages. Sustainability is key.
You want to transform into a SuperHuman, and then stay that way.
You have covered A LOT of different celebrity workouts and diets when they’ve prepared for certain superhero roles (which is awesome). What are some of the most effective training and dieting tactics that you’ve seen in all your research?
Believe it or not, these celebrities don’t have some magic trick.
The Workout Database features a TON of celebrities at this point and they just straight up bust their ass for their role (which I’ll talk more about in your next question).
Utilizing a strong nutrition, which I talk about and compare to celebrities like Dwayne Johnson, Terry Crews, Hugh Jackman, is a huge factor.
I focus on teaching sustainable ways to get into intermittent fasting, and utilizing different pillars to make it as effective as possible.
Incorporating a strong routine, which I base off of the celebrities we research on the site, is just another way to strengthen your overall transformation results.
Most of these celebrities gotta be pretty busy. Are there any common techniques that they use to manage their time and make sure that training and eating right get done?
Honestly, a celebrity’s training schedule probably wouldn’t be the best to compare in structuring our own. I like to tell people to form habits, and then they’ll stick.
Celebrities need to start training with pretty crazy workouts and dietetic guidelines right off the bat. No training wheels.
They have a role to fill, and that’s what they do. So, for us, I think it’s more important to test and try out different routines and pillars within our nutrition in order to find what works and what we
can sustain successfully.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out with a gym membership or they’re struggling to build muscle or get lean right now?
I would say getting started is definitely the hardest. Find your “why” and remember it every single morning.
Why do you want to transform into a SuperHuman? Why do you want to get healthy and in shape? Remember that reason, or those reasons.
Also, use the mirror. The scale can be a tricky machine to focus on. Use the mirror and reward yourself for your improvement.
When I see improvement in my physique it pushes me to go harder and faster during transformation.
Everyone had to start somewhere, and sometimes the process can be slow at first, but I promise it’ll come. Hang in there, form habits, and keep going.
Sustainability is key. This should be a lifestyle.
End of Interview
After reading that, you can understand how much of a character Mike really is.
Maybe he should have his own comic book series…
I fully encourage you to head over to Superhero Jacked and sign up for his email list so you can download more than 50 celebrity workout PDFs.
Seriously, he works very hard to provide a lot of value to his subscribers.
It was awesome to hear his opinion on fitness and if you have any questions, leave a comment below.
I can probably get him to hang around and answer a few if needed.
