I had one of my Twitter followers pitch me a question recently about their college diet plan and I wanted to share my answer with you.
He said…
“Hey, should I be eating complex carbs or simple carbs before bed?”
It sounds like an innocent enough question, right?
And I’m just going to jump straight to my answer that I gave him and reveal what I said…
“It doesn’t matter.”
Now, this answer doesn’t apply to everyone, but I knew for him that it really didn’t matter.
Let me explain what I mean a little bit more.
I’ve only had Campus Gains on the web for about 6 months now, but in that time I’ve been fortunate enough to provide fitness tips for college students interested in transforming their bodies while they’re in school.
(And I love doing it!)
I kind of started my following on Twitter first and that’s typically where most of my interactions take place.
Eventually, I started to receive private messages asking questions about popular muscle-building cheat sheets, how to fix common mistakes, etc.
But what I began to notice over and over again was the complexity of the questions being asked.
I started seeing more questions about:
- Complex carbs
- Salt intake
- Nutrient timing
- Calorie cycling
Among other things.
And the point I’m trying to make here is that while these things do contribute to a lean and muscular body, they’re most likely not necessary for you and your college fitness plan right now.
You may not think about it, but all fitness topics exist on a spectrum in terms of their effectiveness and importance in relation to your experience level.
Make sure you watch the video to understand what I’m talking about.
