Last week I posted an article called 5 Fitness Coaches that Teach Things that Actually Work.
This was the start of a series that I think needs to be expanded and I’m following up this week with 5 more awesome experts that fit the profile.
And just like last time I’m including a mix of experts in bodybuilding, strength training, and even competitive powerlifting.
So if you’re looking for some new YouTube channels or reputable blogs to include in your aimless Internet surfing sessions…
Then you should keep reading…
1. Israel (Izzy) Thomas Narvaez (Powerlifting to Win)
In this second installment of the “fitness coaches” series, I’m starting the list with Izzy, the founder and brain behind one of the best-kept secret sites about powerlifting, Powerlifting To Win.
Izzy’s credits include:
- Professional Powerlifting Coach
- Certified Starting Strength Coach
- Author of two ebooks, Eating to Win and Programming to Win
If you’re even remotely interested in powerlifting, lifting competitively with the goal of improving your lift numbers on the squat, bench press, and deadlift, Izzy’s website is where you should start.
Not only does he take a very analytical approach to all of his reviews and advice on improving yourself for the sake of powerlifting, but he also boasts having created one of the few (or only) novice training programs specifically designed for aspiring powerlifters.
You can check out that program in this massive 45-minute video.
Seriously, if strength is your main goal, head over to PowerliftingToWin.com and start reading.
If you’re more of a video guy, his YouTube channel is dope as well.
2. Scott Herman
For anyone that’s been around the fitness scene for more than a few months (like myself), there are a few individuals that become a household name and one of them is Scott Herman.
Here are some of Scott’s notable accomplishments:
- Recognized by Men’s Health magazine as “Best Abs on the East Coast”
- Professional personal trainer and fitness model
- Built a following of over 670,000 subscribers
What’s really incredible about Scott Herman is his content endurance.
He has the ability to keep making videos and content on just about every fitness topic imaginable.
Seriously, if you have a question about something fitness-related, chances are he’s made 5-10 videos about it already.
His defining works are probably his exercise tutorials on literally every exercise ever.
As an example, here’s him explaining how to properly perform the deadlift in a series of videos which is a notoriously misunderstood movement.
Scott Herman’s website, Muscular Strength, is a wealth of fitness information as is his massive YouTube channel.
Fun Fact: Scott was a cast member on MTV’s The Real World.
3. Andy Morgan
Up until now, I’ve taken a more aesthetic approach to the lessons I’ve taught on Campus Gains and I owe a lot of my teachings to Andy Morgan.
Andy Morgan credits include:
- Having coached hundreds of clients to better, aesthetically-pleasing bodies
- Owning and running another successful website for the Japanese population called AthleteBody.jp
- Hosting a popular podcast on the same topics
What I really like about him is he provides some of the most complete and thorough resources on diet manipulation and training for the purpose of bodybuilding.
Just to give you a taste of his excellent information, here’s a video on the logic behind his coaching decisions for a very successful fat loss client.
I highly recommend you visit his awesome website RippedBody.com for very meticulous instructions on losing body fat and gaining lean muscle mass.
4. Greg Nuckols
For you guys that are interested in getting as strong as possible, Greg Nuckols is one coach with an excellent reputation that you should definitely take advice from.
Greg‘s accomplishments include:
- Having impressive lifting numbers with a 755 lb squat, 475 bench press, and 725 lb deadlift
- A degree in Exercise Science from Harding University
- Creating some of the most thorough explanations on the squat, bench press, and deadlift movements on the internet
What sets Greg apart from other strength training websites is his genuine curiosity on the subject and his dedication to providing recommendations only backed by the most recent scientific research.
Here’s a taste of his expertise in this video where he gives an excellent explanation on the difference between full body and split training routines.
I highly recommend that you go check out his incredible strength training website called Stronger by Science and sign up to his email list to download 28 free strength training programs.
5. Alberto Nunez
Now I just recently discovered Alberto Nunez, but everything that I’ve learned about him (and from him) has been eye-opening.
Some of Alberto‘s accomplishments include
- Earning his pro status in virtually every major natural bodybuilding organization only a year after his first competition
- Maintaining a popular Instagram account with over 67,000 followers
- Being a professional online bodybuilding coach and author of some very intense online bodybuilding courses
The first thing about Alberto that catches your eye when you see him is probably how incredibly lean he is almost year-round.
Alberto is one of those people who has his body dialed in at a meticulous level that there’s virtually no guesswork when preparing himself for a very competitive bodybuilding competition.
His teachings on diet manipulation and training for a competitive bodybuilder are seriously on-point.
Here’s a video I found of him explaining all the major phases of preparing for a professional bodybuilding competition that provides a wealth of information:
If you want to learn more about Alberto Nunez, you can check out his coaching philosophies and techniques over at 3D Muscle Journey or just Google his name or search on YouTube and you’ll come up with dozens of interviews he’s done since he’s a pretty popular guy.
Got Any Fitness Coaches You Want to Add to the List?
Like I mentioned in the first part of the series, I’m sure there are coaches that I have yet to include on this list that definitely still deserve it.
(And I still have a couple more installments to add to the series…)
But do you have anyone that teaches bodybuilding and/or strength training methods that doesn’t get enough credit?
If so, leave them in a comment below!
